The Mediatek MT8173 reference tablet was showcased at the mobile world congress event where we were able to find out that it runs up to 2.4 GHz clock speed and offers full Open CL support. Its integrated GPU, power VR GX6250 offers great graphics performance.

In the AnTuTu performance benchmark software, the Mediatek MT8173 scored more than 40,000 which is means that it is six times more powerful than the MediaTek MT8125 processor released backed in 2013.

As expected the MT8173 offers 4k video playback and recording giving users a premium experience. Sources have told us that the processor will be released in the second half of the year and first devices with MediaTek Mt8173 will be ready by October 2015.
